ENVIRONMENTAL SENSOR EVALUATION KITS

Environmental sensors are instruments used to monitor and measure environmental parameters such as temperature, humidity, barometric pressure, and air quality. Our sensor evaluation kits use a Bosch environmental sensor that senses relative volatile organic compounds (VOCs). This is paired with a Ublox Wi-Fi module to present the data back to a dashboard offering a complete solution for environmental sensor evaluation that is simple to set up and extremely accurate.

INDOOR AIR QUALITY MONITORING

Our implementation is initially configured for RVOC and ECO2, however, one can use the Bosch AI Studio to train new models for the sensor. We provide hooks to do firmware updates to connect new models "over the air".

All source code is available at our source repository to offer complete guidance and assist in setup and troubleshooting.

Our goal is to enable a designer to quickly evaluate the sensor and extend this to your particular use case.

COMMON APPLICATIONS FOR OUR ENVIRONMENTAL SENSOR EVALUATION KITS

Our environmental sensor evaluation kits are built by engineers, for engineers. Among the more popular applications are in evaluating indoor living spaces for various "quality of life" elements and events.

Some of the more popular applications our engineer partners use our evaluation kits for testing include:

  • General Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) monitoring

  • Co2 Buildup detection

  • Plastic out-gassing

  • Occupancy detection

  • Temperature, humidity and barometric pressure sensing

ABOUT OUR ENVIRONMENTAL MONITORING EVALUATION KITS

Breathe Easy: Indoor Air Sensors and Monitors for a Healthier Indoor Environment

The air we breathe indoors can be surprisingly polluted, filled with dust, allergens, chemicals, and even harmful gases. While we might not always see or smell these invisible threats, their impact on our health can be significant. This is where indoor air sensors and monitors come in, acting as our silent guardians, providing valuable insights into the quality of the air we breathe.

What are Indoor Air Quality Sensors and how do they work?

Indoor air sensors and monitors are devices that measure various pollutants and environmental factors present in the air.

They come in different shapes and sizes, with varying functionalities. Some basic models measure temperature, humidity, and particulate matter (PM), while more advanced versions can detect volatile organic compounds (VOCs), carbon dioxide (CO2), and even radon. These sensors use different technologies, like lasers or electrochemical sensors, to detect and quantify pollutants.

Benefits of using them:

  • Awareness: The most significant benefit is awareness. By monitoring air quality, you can understand potential risks and take action to improve your indoor environment. This is especially crucial for people with allergies, asthma, or other respiratory conditions.

  • Identify sources: Fluctuations in readings can help pinpoint sources of pollution, like mold growth, poor ventilation, or cleaning products.

  • Take action: Armed with information, you can take targeted steps to improve air quality. This might involve increasing ventilation, using air purifiers, or addressing specific pollutant sources.

  • Peace of mind: Knowing your air quality is within safe limits can provide peace of mind and a sense of control over your home environment.

Things to consider before buying Indoor Air Quality Sensors

  • Needs and budget: Consider what pollutants you're most concerned about and set a budget. Basic models might suffice for general awareness, while advanced features come at a premium.

  • Accuracy and reliability: Look for devices with certifications from reputable organizations and consider independent reviews for accuracy comparisons.

  • Features and connectivity: Decide if you need features like Wi-Fi connectivity, smartphone app integration, or data logging for long-term analysis.

  • Ease of use: Choose a device with a clear interface and easy-to-understand readings.

Remember: While indoor air sensors and monitors provide valuable insights, they are not replacements for professional air quality testing or remediation services. However, they can be powerful tools for everyday monitoring, empowering you to create a healthier and more comfortable living environment.
